I rarely dress up these days. Perhaps it’s a response to many intense years of dogmatic, prep school dress codes or maybe California’s casual sartorial culture has affected me more than this proud East Coaster would like to admit. Whatever the reason, I just don’t find as many opportunities to break out my suiting. However, on a trip to New York early this summer I had the chance to catch up with my good friend from college and constant style inspiration, Charles Dean (click here for his website).
Feel free to take the following platitude with a grain of salt given that he’s my friend and I have a penchant for hyperbole, but I genuinely believe he is the future of men’s suiting. His bold take on something so familiar is more than just a dramatic flare on what already exists, it’s a lifestyle for men who appreciate the importance of quality materials, constructed by hand with great care and attention to detail.
While I probably won’t be radically changing my wardrobe, I did enjoy my sartorial education - the allure of casual elegance, however, has secured a place in my heart.
